Does Life Start Now?

Article by KJH Concerts

Most of us can relate to questioning our place in life, whether we’re questioning where we’re supposed to be, if it’s time to start over, or learning to be content with where we are.

Jevani Sanders, an up-and-coming rock/metal vocalist from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, explores these intense feelings with the single, “Does Life Start Now?” The title itself captures the ongoing questions many of us ask, echoing throughout the chorus much like a thought that replays in our minds during times of uncertainty.

Opening with an aggressive, but catchy melody, Jevani layers the classic sound of a punk rock guitar riff with softer background instruments, including an electric sound mirroring the main melody before dipping into harsh vocals. The aggression peaks in the line, “and now I’m depressed,” where Jevani’s harsh vocals powerfully convey the rage one can feel trying to figure out their life’s path.

While this single may be shorter, running at one minute and 44 seconds, Jevani’s lyrics and vocals emulate the range of emotions  we experience when we feel disconnected from our own path. Singing along to “Does Life Start Now?” is a cathartic release of pent-up emotion, offering a sense of release for anyone wrestling with their place in life.
