A Haunting Journey
Song Review: All For You by Grinn feat. Espera

Grinn’s new single “All For You” feat. Espera pulls no punches from the very start. The raw vocal opening sets the tone for a song that, at its core, is about desperation, longing, and obsession. Immediately following is a riff that feels like Strapping Young Lad met Mick Gordon.
Vocalist/guitarist Cameron Warren’s range is on stark display here, moving smoothly from screams to cleans. Said cleans are offset by the gorgeous accompaniment of backing vocalist trio Espera, lending an eeriness to the whole track and belying the hidden themes of the lyrics.
An explosive first chorus makes the listener feel like they’re soaring through a cloud of ethereal vocals, groovy drums, and chugging guitar. A brief interlude from Espera gives way to a second verse that is markedly different from the rest of the song—the vocals are beautifully layered and almost pop-like in nature, and the instrumentals become more reserved, with palm muting on the guitar and gentler drums.
But the reprieve is short-lived, and the listener is thrown again into that hauntingly angelic chorus. That chorus is followed up by a guitar solo that tumbles over and over itself, falling into frantic tremolo picking and then exploding into a slow, groovy breakdown that builds and builds until it evaporates into nothing, highlighting that fleeting feeling of love and how it can vanish in a heartbeat.
