Last Wednesday, on none other than April Fools ' Day, The Silence Follows tour landed in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The co-headliner tour featuring ERRA and Currents, with support from Caskets and AVIANA, filled the Uptown Theatre. The Silence Follow tour celebrates ERRAs newest album “silence outlives the earth”, released in March of this year, and Currents' newest five-song EP “All That Follows” released in October of 2025. The two metal-core bands came together to give fans an experience they're all sure to remember and cherish.
When arriving at the venue thirty minutes before the show started, the line wrapped around the building, always a good sign for a packed house. Walking into the theatre, it was buzzing with energy as everyone was preparing for the opening act to hit the stage. The bar was busy slinging drinks as patrons lined the walls and walkways, merch lines weaving in and out of the densely packed crowd. The temperature of the room starkly contrasted the frigid wind blasting outside, carrying in a winter storm, but that did not stop these fans from turning out ready to rock.
The lights dimmed, casting the audience in a blue haze, and the Swedish metalcore band AVIANA took the stage. This masked band from Gothenburg consists of four members: Fear - bassist, Dark- drummer, Death- guitarist, and the unmasked singer, Joel Holmqvist. Releasing their latest album, “VOID” in 2025, the band kicked off with one of their newest tracks, “EVERMORE”. From the moment they took the stage, this band had the crowd in a chokehold. Their heavy vocals, chuggs, breakdowns, and beats captured the attention of every person who was just discovering this band. The masks added an element of mystery and excitement to the performance, though they did nothing to hide the unique personality and stage personas of each member. Closing their set with a song from their 2022 album, they couldn't have chosen a better title, “obsession”, because I’m sure that I’m not the only person in the theatre that night who left with this band as a new obsession.
The atmosphere changed as the lighting warmed to an orange and red hue, and an image that resembled a cathedral window appeared behind the drums as the four members of Caskets emerged from the darkness. This UK-based band, fronted by singer Matt Flood, lit up the stage with their song “Make Me A Martyr”, from their most recent album “The Only Heaven You’ll Know” released in November of 2025. This softer but equally talented alternative rock/ metalcore band consists of members Craig Robinson, Benji Wilson, and James Lazenby. The crowd returned the energy given by the band with a series of crowd surfers, including none other than Spiderman himself. A lasting impression was left as they closed out strong with their well-known 2020 single “Glass Heart”.
The crowd was prepped and ready and absolutely buzzing between sets, waiting for ERRA, the first of the two headliners to take the stage. The southern Alabama progressive metal band, established in 2009, previously made a name for itself touring as an opener for Bad Omens. Hands flew to the air as the members emerged onto the stage playing a single from their new album, “gore of being”. From the barricade to the back of the balcony, fans new and old, were on their feet singing along. Singer J.T. Cavey took a moment to thank fans for coming out, reminiscing on the last time the band played in Minneapolis, stating that they always have a good turnout when playing in this city. This elicited cheers from the crowd, hyping the energy before they jumped into their next song. The fourteen-song setlist made sure that no matter how long you've been listening to the band, there was something for you. The pit grew as the set carried on, fans thrashing their bodies to beat, smiles stretching across their faces as they developed new memories with fellow fans.
The energy carried over, feeding into the growing excitement for the final band of the night, the second headliner of the show, Currents. The New England-based metalcore band changed things up, opening their set with “So Alone,” a song from their 2023 full-length album, rather than one from their new EP. They played many crowd favorites such as “The Death We Seek”, “Remember Me”, and “Kill the Ache”, but they also played older hits such as “Apnea” from their 2017 album. The crowd was a constant flow of crowd-surfers and moshers, losing themselves in the music. The energy delivered by the band matched that of the crowd, and there was a constant exchange of excitement with each beat, each clap, each whipping of hair as both band and fans banged their heads. Closing the night with “It Only Gets Darker” from their new EP was the perfect was to signify them ending this chapter of their music and stepping into the next phase of their journey just as the EP is theoried to signify.
There’s no denying that the show was a complete success and that the only fools that day were the ones who didn’t get their tickets in time and missed out on this killer show.
