How much would you sacrifice for the one you love? German progressive metal band Unprocessed takes us on a journey of devotion in their new single “Sacrifice Me.” Following your heart can take you to the dark depths of what it means to commit to another. Love can change us, but there’s no telling what we might go through in the process.

The beginning of the song is a dream-like state, mirroring what love can feel like. It beckons us to follow the bliss somewhere else, into a world that can’t be found. It takes us to where our instincts collide with desires. In the first chorus, it shows us how affection alters us forever and delivers us to unexpected places. 

Visceral lyrics in the verse invite us to give our best and brightest parts willingly. The reward of giving them away is a new truth shared with the other person on this journey. Punchy riffs lead us deeper into the story of sacrifice, building in intensity with heavy drums and Manuel Gardner Fernandes’ screams.

The transformation is complete once the bridge hits. We travel past the point of no return with evocative imagery of letting another shape us as if we are as fluid as candle wax. These emotional depths are filled with devotion to the one we love and an eagerness to leave the rest behind. 

In the final verse, the power of connection is at its highest and reminds us changes made for love are often made by our own hands. Haunting lines asking to be sacrificed at the altar and throne leave us to contemplate how bridging our soul with another’s often makes us into someone new.
